IPL 2020: Chennai Super Kings give an Update on Dwayne Bravo’s Injury

Dwayne Bravo’s injury might keep him out of action for few CSK matches. Stephen Fleming, the coach of Chennai Super Kings revealed the same and this is definitely a major blow for MS Dhoni-led IPL side.

No Bravo for couple of weeks?

Ravindra Jadeja bowled the final over of CSK’s last match against Delhi Capitals. Jadeja had the task to defend 17 runs but he failed to do so. Axar Patel smashed three sixes and won the match for the Capitals. Jadeja had to bowl final over as the death over specialist of CSK, Dwayne Bravo picked up an injury. Bravo could manage to bowl just three overs where he conceded 23 runs and picked up one wicket. During the climax, Bravo was seen sitting outside. This costed the very important match to Chennai Super Kings. The head coach of Chennai Super Kings coach, Stephen Fleming further informed, “He (Bravo) seems to have a right groin injury I think. It’s serious enough to keep him from coming back on the field. At this stage, you’d imagine it would take him a few days, or even a couple of weeks.”

Dwayne Bravo who had missed earlier matches of Chennai Super Kings gave boost to the CSK bowling unit after making comeback from injury. His absence is going to be a big blow for Dhoni’s team especially considering their current status in the league.

No replacement for Bravo

However, even if Dwayne Bravo is not fit, CSK would not ask for replacement. “I don’t think a replacement is an option at this stage because if a new person comes in, it will again be about having a quarantine period for him before he can join the rest of the squad. It is unlikely that we will look at a replacement for Bravo if he is out. But firstly we are hoping Bravo isn’t out and the injury isn’t major.”

Kasi Viswanathan, the CSK CEO further told ANI, “We will get the reports by today evening and then the team management will have a fair idea with regards to the extent of Bravo’s injury. As of now, I can only say that it can either be a couple of games or a couple of weeks.”
