It is almost time to experience a new journey for the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams that are going to be a part of the Asian Games 2023 in China. The men’s cricket competition in the tournament will begin on September 28. The final will take place on October 8. The competition will be organized in T20 format. But before the tournament, there was an injury blow in the Men’s India camp.
Mavi Sustains Back Injury
Indian bowler Shivam Mavi sustained a back injury just before the tournament. Because of that injury, Mavi has been ruled out of the tournament. In a statement, BCCI said,” Mavi is suffering from a back injury and is ruled out of the tournament. The men’s cricket competition will take place from 28th September to 8th October.” The selection committee has announced Bengal pacer Akashdeep will replace Mavi in the Asian Game Squad.
Injury in Women’s team:
There is an Injury blow in the women’s team as well. The women’s cricket competition will start on September 19 and the final will be held on 28th September. Left arm pacer Sarvani has been ruled out because of a knee injury. Puja Vastrakar will replace her in the squad.
The men’s cricket tournament is starting on September 28. In the first match, Oman will be facing Saudi Arabia and in the second fixture on that day, Hong Kong will face Singapore. India will directly start from the quarterfinal stage on October 5. On October 7, the final will take place.
It is going to be a unique experience for the men’s cricket team. They are going to be a part of the Asian Games for the time. Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad is going to lead from the front.
