India’s Wicketkeeper Batter Dinesh Karthik Joins England Lions as Batting Consultant in Elite Coaching Lineup for India Tour

After a long break, Team India got back to the Test format in the South Africa tour. The two-match Test series ended in a draw. After that, their next Test fixtures are scheduled against England. Before that, the England Lions will play three four-day matches against India A team. Legendary Indian player Dinesh Karthik has been appointed as the batting consultant of the England Lions team. 

A New Role for Dinesh Karthik:

After a lot of limited-over clashes, the cricket world is back to playing Test cricket. Along with the national team, India A team is also playing a lot of Test matches. They played three four-day matches against the South Africa A team. Now, India is scheduled to play a five-match Test series. Before that, the India A team will face the England Lions in three four-day matches. 

For that series, Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has been offered a new role by the England Lions. He has been appointed as the batting consultant of England Lions. He has been appointed to the coaching set-up of the squad. He will replace Ian Bell as he is busy in the Big Bash League. Dinesh Karthik will work with head coach Neil Kileen and assistant coaches Richard Dawson and Carl Hopkinson. English spinner Graeme Swann will be playing the role of mentor of the team. 

Performance Director’s Words and Schedule:

After appointing Dinesh Karthik as the Batting consultant of England Lions, England’s Men’s Performance Director Mo Bobat expressed his feelings. He said, “It’s great to have such a strong coaching group supporting our players for what should be an exciting challenge versus India A. The group has a deep and diverse set of experiences and expertise.”

Later he added, “And it’s fantastic to have Dinesh Karthik with us for a part of our prep period and leading into the first Test. I’m sure the lads will love spending time with him and benefiting from his experience of what it takes to be successful at Test level in India.”

The first match of the series will be held on Narendra Modi Stadium-Ground B in Ahmedabad on January 12. The second match is scheduled to happen on January 17 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The third and fourth match is scheduled to happen on January 24 and February 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Abhimanyu Eashwaran will lead the India side and Josh Bohannon will be captaining the England Lions.
