In the second match, Chennai Super Kings locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. While batting first, Chennai lost Ajiyanka Rahane’s wicket in the third over. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell made a crucial partnership. Daryl Mitchell scored a crucial half-century and played an innings of 52 runs in 32 balls. Even after playing an impactful innings, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad missed his well-deserved century. He was dismissed on 98 runs in 54 balls. Shivam Dube played an unbeaten knock of 39 runs in 20 balls. MS Dhoni was unbeaten innings of 5 runs in 2 balls. In 20 overs, they scored 212/3.
During the chase of 213 runs, the Sunrisers Hyderabad batsmen struggled. Travis Head got out after scoring 13 runs off 7 balls. Following him, wickets kept falling one after another. Aiden Markram managed to score 32 runs in 26 balls, while Heinrich Klaasen contributed 20 runs in 21 balls, and Abdul Samad added 19 runs in 18 balls. Despite their efforts, they couldn’t match Chennai’s bowling prowess, leading to a significant 78-run defeat for SRH.
