“In a 200-plus chase, he will always back himself.” Former Indian Bowler is Mesmerized by Glenn Maxwell’s Unbeaten Century Knock in the Last Match Against India

After meeting in the World Cup 2023 final, India and Australia are locking horns again in a five-match T20 series. On November 28, both teams met in the third T20 international at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. In this match, Australia registered their first win of this series. Glenn Maxwell’s unbeaten century secured the victory. After the match former Indian bowler, Ashish Nehra praised him in all the ways.

Maxwell’s Magic:

Australia faced defeats in the first two T20 matches. India was leading the series by a 2-0 margin. But in the third T20 match, Australia bounced back. They registered their first win in the tournament. The match was a stunner. While batting first, India set a target of 223 runs. That was not an easy target. Australia lost a couple of wickets pretty early.

Then Glenn Maxwell stood strong. He held Australia’s innings. He played an unbeaten knock of 104 runs in just 48 deliveries. His innings consisted of 8 boundaries and 8 over-boundaries. He batted with a strike rate of 216.67. This innings was oxygen to Australia’s innings. He completed his century in the last innings and remained unbeaten till the end.

Ashish Nehra’s Praise:

Former Indian bowler Ashish Nehra was mesmerized by Maxwell’s excellence. He praised Maxwell’s quick yet responsible innings. Nehra enjoyed his excellent shots. While praising him, the former Indian bowler said, “ With the way he was batting (always looked like he was going to do it). In these conditions, in a 200-plus chase, he will always back himself. Coming back to Glenn Maxwell, we have seen in the past as well how well he can construct a chase. You’re talking about Glenn Maxwell, he doesn’t like to do only easy things, he likes to do really, really tough things and he has done it again.”

Glenn Maxwell’s innings helped to secure Australia’s first victory in the series. With that win, the series win hope is still alive for the Aussies. On this matter, Ashish Nehra said, “ Glenn Maxwell would have gone home happy even if he hadn’t played in this series because he won the World Cup. definitely after this innings, the series is still alive. He is going to go home even happier.”

After Australia’s win, the series is on a rollercoaster. Australia’s excellence shined again. The series is 2-1 now. The next match will be played on December 1 in Raipur. All eyes will be there in that match. The last two matches of this series will decide the fate of the winners.
