ICC World Cup 2023 Most Wickets: Updated After India vs. the Netherlands Match No. 45

This is the end of a 45-day journey of 10 teams. On November 12, the group stage of the 2023 World Cup has been ended. India and the Netherlands locked horns at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore in the last group-stage match. In that match, India shone again and the Netherlands bid the final goodbye to the tournament. From November 15, the semifinal stage will be played and the ultimate showdown will be held on November 19. 

It was an exciting match with a lot of suspense. Initially, India won the toss and opted to bat first. Team India gave a great start. Rohit Sharma gave an amazing start. He scored 61 runs in 54 balls. Shubman Gill played another half-century knock. Virat Kohli scored 51 runs in 56 balls. Shreyas Iyer remained not out on 128 runs and KL Rahul walked away after scoring 102 runs in 64 balls. India scored their second big target in the World Cup. 

The Netherlands bowler tried well to dominate the Indian batters. But they failed to do that. Bas de Leede took 2 wickets in 82 runs. Roelof van der Merwe took 1 wicket in 53 runs. Paul van Meekran took 1 wicket in 90 runs. Other Netherlands bowlers remained wicketless. 

While batting in the second innings, the Netherlands batters batted well. Max )’ Dowd scored 30 runs in 42 balls. Colin Ackermann scored 35 runs. Sybrand Engelbrecht missed a well-deserved half-century just by 45 runs. Teja Nidamanuru scored a half-century. They played a knock of 54 runs in 39 balls. They got all out on 250 runs. 

India’s bowling was exceptional. 9 bowlers bowled in the second innings. Some of the batters bowled today. Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets in 33 runs. Mohammed Siraj took 2 wickets in 29 runs. Kuldeep Yadav picked up 2 wickets in 41 runs. Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets in 49 runs. The twist was yet to come. Virat Kohli showcased his bowling technique. He picked up 1 wicket in 13 runs. Another surprise was Rohit Sharma’s bowling. He took 1 wicket in 7 runs. Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav bowled well but remained wicketless.

Jasprit Bumrah Comes Up:

India effortlessly won their last match of the group stage. After completing the group stage, India is still unbeaten. Jasprit Bumrah played well. He took 2 wickets in 33 runs. Bumrah’s first wicket of today’s match was Bas de Leede. Leede got out on 12 runs. After that, Bumrah took Aryan Dutt’s wicket when he was on 5 runs. With that performance, Bumrah climbs up to the 5th position of the highest wicket-taker’s list.

Ravindra Jadeja Shined:

Ravindra Jadeja is the star bowler of the Indian team. He is in a very good rhythm in this World Cup. Against the Netherlands, Jadeja took 2 wickets in 49 runs. His first wicket was Max O’Dowd. He picked up Max in 30 runs. His next wicket was Reolof van der Merwe. Jadeja picked him up on 16 runs. Jadeja is standing in the 8th position of the highest wicket-takers list with 17 wickets.

Bas de Leede is in the 10th position:

The Netherlands had a tough time throughout this World Cup. but among all the Dutch bowlers, Bas de Leede shined the brightest. He has become the highest wicket-taker of the Netherland’s side. Against India, he played well. He took 2 wickets in 82 runs. He took the Crucial wicket of Rohit Sharma when he was in 61 runs. KL Rahul was his second wicket. He picked Rahul when he was in 102 runs.
