ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Most Wickets: Updated After India vs. Afghanistan Match 9

The World Cup has given a dazzling start. All fixtures are more than exciting. All the players are trying hard to make some memorable records. Sometimes they are making records in a team, just like South Africa. They made the highest total of the World Cup against Sri Lanka. On October 11, India locked horns with Afghanistan at  Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Indian players just dominated Afghanistan’s lineup throughout the match. Especially, Rohit Sharma dominated Afghan bowlers in the second innings. After him, Virat and Shreyas have done it correctly. 

On October 11, India faced Afghanistan at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It was another thriller match by India. Initially, Afghanistan won the match and decided to bat first. They gave an average start. Afghan opener Gurbaz scored 21 runs in 28 balls. Zardran scored 22 runs in 28 balls. Hashmatullah Shahidi played a captain’s innings. He scored 80 runs in 88 balls. He smashed 8 boundaries and 1 over-boundaries. Omarzai also played well. He scored 62 runs in 69 balls. They ended their innings on 272/8 at the end of the 50 overs. 

Indian bowlers dominated them, especially Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah picked up 4 wickets in 39 runs. Hardik Pandya took 2 wickets in 43 runs. Shardul and Kuldeep picked one each. But it was a hard-luck for Mohammed Siraj. He is one of the biggest strengths of India. He gave 76 runs in 9 overs but didn’t take any wickets.

In the second innings, India was in a beast mode. Rohit was in another zone. He played a knock of 131 runs in 84 balls. He smashed 16 boundaries and 5 over-boundaries. He completed his ton in just 63 balls. He completed 7 centuries in 13 innings in the World Cup. Ishan Kishan missed his half-century by three runs. He got out on 47 runs. Virat and Shreyas finished the match. Virat remained not out on 55 runs by 56 balls and Iyer remained unbeaten 25 in 23 balls. 

It was such a bad day for Afghan bowlers. They just could not execute their plan in front of the Indian batters. Except for Rashid Khan, no other bowlers got a wicket. Rashid Khan managed to pick up two wickets in 57 runs. India won the match by 8 wickets.

After this thrilling clash, Mitchell Santner and Matt Henry are still stuck in the top 2 spots. Santner took 7 wickets in the first two matches. Henry took 6 wickets and remained in the second position. Kiwis have conquered the Highest wicket-takers list in the last few days.

Jasprit Bumrah is the face of the Indian pace bowling unit. It was Bumrah’s day. He picked up 4 wickets in just 39 runs. His economy rate is 4. He took six wickets in two matches. In this match against Afghanistan, he got his first success by picking up Ibrahim Zardan’s wicket. His second wicket was Mohammad Nabi. then he picked up Najibullah Zardran in 2 runs. His last and final wicket of the match was Rashid Khan. He picked up Rashid Khan’s wicket when he was batting on 16 runs.
