“I haven’t even seen (Virat) Kohli pull off as regularly as Rohit (Sharma).”- Virender Sehwag

The second match of the ongoing T20I series between India and Bangladesh saw India’s stand-in captain Rohit Sharma taking the lead from the front. During the chase, he almost singlehandedly sealed the match for his team and levelled the series 1-1. The way he batted, everybody around the cricket fraternity started showering praises. Virender Sehwag is no exception either.

Sehwag praises Rohit

In a conversation with Cricbuzz Virender Sehwag appreciated Rohit Sharma’s blistering knock that took India home. He compared Rohit to India’s regular captain Virat Kohli and claimed that even Virat cannot pull off this style of play regularly. Sehwag said, “Hitting 3-4 sixes in an over or scoring 80-90 runs off 45 balls is an art that I haven’t even seen (Virat) Kohli pull off as regularly as Rohit (Sharma).”

The conversation took him down memory lane and he shared a special anecdote about Sachin Tendulkar. Sehwag told that Sachin used to ask others if he can score runs in a particular situation, others can too. To which Sehwag opined, “But he never understood that there’s only one God and the sort of things God can do, no one else can.”

The hitman show in Rajkot

Rohit Sharma played his 100th T20I and became the first Indian male player to achieve such feat. On this special occasion, he smashed 85 off just 42 balls to register his 18th T20I half-century and also helped India win the match within the 16th over. This match was important for Rohit as a skipper as the previous match saw Bangladesh claiming the first-ever T20I win against India. Rohit Sharma needed to prove his mettle as captain and player as well by taking charge in this match. And he did.

Even Sourav Ganguly, the new BCCI president took Twitter to congratulate the hitman. Now another big compliment from the legendary Virender Sehwag will definitely boost the morale of him. The third and final match is a must-win for both teams to claim series.
