The IPL 2024 is proving its exciting side almost in every match. In the ongoing season, Kolkata Knight Riders is in great form. They dominate the opponent in almost every match. Amid criticism of Chandrakant Pandit’s coaching style, Gautam Gambhir has come to the defense of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ head coach, supporting his approach and experience.

The Allegation on Coach:

During the IPL 2023 season, former KKR all-rounder David Wiese described head coach Chandrakant Pandit’s methods as a “militant-style” approach, drawing attention to his coaching tactics. Wiese mentioned on a podcast that Pandit’s strict discipline posed challenges for some overseas players who struggled to adapt to his coaching philosophy.

Wiese noted that there were behind-the-scenes issues within the team, causing dissatisfaction among some players. He explained that the changing room atmosphere was tough due to Pandit’s coaching style. The coach’s specific approach created tension as it did not resonate well with the players, resulting in difficulties adjusting to the new methods.

Gautam Gambhir’s Support to Pandit:

Kolkata Knight Riders’ mentor Gautam Gambhir defended head coach Chandrakant Pandit after recent criticism. Gambhir stood by Pandit, dismissing the criticism and endorsing his coaching approach. Gambhir said, “I have not heard about any criticism. It’s been early days, and my working relationship with him has been very good. Hopefully, it will continue that way. Whatever has been said, I have no clue about it.”

Later he added, “I think he has been pretty successful in first-class cricket, and that is the reason why he has got this opportunity. So far, it has been really good working with him.”
