“He’s one of my favourite guys to bat with.” Faf du Plessis Reveals Excitement About Partnering with Kohli in RCB Opening

The IPL 2024 is even less than 5 days away. Fans are vibing with the excitement of the tournament. The inaugural match of the series will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Before the season started, Faf du Plessis, the skipper of RCB, expressed his thoughts on partnering with Virat Kohli to lead the batting lineup in the IPL.

Du Plessis on Virat’s Batting:

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli has arrived in India for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Kohli is preparing to join the RCB squad as they gear up for their first match against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2024. RCB captain Faf du Plessis shared his thoughts on partnering with Kohli in the RCB opening lineup.

Faf du Plessis said, “Batting is probably the other thing that we click on equally. You know, it is unbelievable batting with him. He’s one of my favourite guys to bat with. He brings out so much energy in me, like sometimes, I feel like I’m fist-bumping my glove through his hand because he gets so passionate. Him being out there in the middle, which is really infectious, the way he gives that energy, and I remember being in the opposition and how that really is.”

On Kohli’s Passion:

While talking about the matter, du Plessis said, “Let’s hope for that amount of energy, because it was like this guy is just always on. How did you manage it? So it’s really infectious, the same thing on the field, because, like catching balls, we are both very competitive, and I make sure we get those good catches for the team. So he’s really important to me in terms of the field. I think, indeed, so many things fast as a team. But fielding is, he said, so he sets the time for the energy on the field.”

Purchased by RCB for INR 7 crore at the auction, Du Plessis captained Bangalore in IPL 2022. Despite finishing fourth, the team missed the playoffs. Kohli, the IPL’s leading run-scorer, amassed 639 runs in 14 games. In IPL 2023, Du Plessis, RCB’s skipper, emerged as the second-highest run-getter after Shubman Gill, scoring 730 runs in 14 matches. This time, a new season is coming, and RCB is all geared up and ready. Fans are hoping for another successful season.
