Harbhajan Singh Compares Suryakumar Yadav to AB de Villiers: “A Better Version”

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has made a bold comparison between Mumbai Indians Suryakumar Yadav and South African legend AB de Villiers, claiming that Yadav is a “better version” of the cricketing icon. Singh’s comments came after Yadav’s explosive performance against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing IPL 2024.

Yadav’s innings against RCB was nothing short of spectacular, as he smashed 52 runs off just 19 balls, playing a pivotal role in Mumbai Indians’ successful chase of 197 runs. Singh, who was mesmerized by Yadav’s innings, expressed his admiration for the Mumbai Indians’ batter, stating that he is glad he does not have to face someone like Yadav on the field.

“I have never seen someone dominating like the way Suryakumar does. Unbelievable. Where do you bowl to him? I am so glad I am not playing cricket now. At this age, where do you bowl to this guy?” Singh said in an interview with Star Sports.

Singh further praised Yadav’s wide range of shots, highlighting his ability to play a variety of strokes. “He has got an answer for every ball you bowl to him, whether it’s a wide yorker, bouncer. He can play sweep, pull, upper-cut, and I don’t know what else he can play. He is a different kind of a player,” Singh remarked.

Comparing Yadav to AB de Villiers, Singh hailed Yadav as a superior player, stating, “Suryakumar is in a different league. When Suryakumar Yadav shines, no one can survive. We have all seen AB de Villiers; unbelievable player! But when I see this guy, I think he is a better version of AB de Villiers. He has won more number of games for his franchise than anyone playing now in this format.”

Singh concluded by expressing his admiration for Yadav’s talent, stating that if he were part of any team, Yadav would be his first pick in the auction. However, Singh acknowledged that this scenario is unlikely to happen.

Yadav’s outstanding performance against RCB has further solidified his reputation as one of the most dynamic batters in the IPL. His ability to play a wide array of shots and dominate opposition bowlers has earned him accolades from fans and experts alike, with many comparing him to the best in the game.
