The IPL fever is rising. On November 26, all the teams were instructed to submit the list of the released and retained players. The program was going live on the Star Sports network. Gujarat Titans is a new franchise but they have been showing class since their first season. There are some interesting moves in their playing XI.
Released and Retained player of Gujarat Titans:
In 2022, the IPL world was introduced with two teams. One of them is Gujarat Titans. They had a strong lineup since the first season. In their inaugural season, they became the champion. That was an excellent season. Even in the last season, they ended up being the runners-up. In both seasons, they showed their class.
Before the final day of retention, a lot of speculation was going over Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya. Reports were coming on his trade to Mumbai Indians. As per sources, Gujarat Titans were likely to trade him for 15 crores. But today all the speculation was over. Hardik has been retained by the franchise.
The released players of Gujarat Titans are Yash Dayal, K.S Bharat, Shivam Mavi, Urvil Patel, Pradeep Sangwan, Odeon Smith, Alzarri Joseph, and Dasun Shanaka. The GT management has released youngster Shivam Mavi. Sri Lankan star Dasun Shanka was also released by the franchise. Those are bold moves by the Gujarat Titans Management.
The retention list is long. They kept their core team for the past two years. The biggest surprise came when they retained Hardik Pandya after a lot of speculation. The retained players are David Miller, Shubhman Gill, Matthew Wade, Wriddhiman Saha, Kane Williamson, Hardik Pandya, Abhinav Manohar, B. Sai. Sudharsan, Darshan Nalkande, Vijay Shankar, Jayant Yadav, Rahul Tewatia, Mohammed Shami, Noor Ahmed, Sai Kishore, Rashid Khan, Joshua Little and Mohit Sharma. They have an excellent squad. In the last edition, Shubhman Gill had his best IPL season ever. He ended up as the highest run scorer of the tournament.
Auction and the Goal for the Next Season:
One step for the IPL 2024 has been wrapped up. Now the big day will be the auction. The auction of IPL 2024 will be organized in Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena. For the first time, the franchises will be taking crucial steps for a successful season from outside of India. All teams will pick the best options for them.
Gujarat has been showing their class since the first edition of the tournament. In 2022, they made their debut in IPL. In the same year, they won their maiden trophy. Gill was amazing in the previous season. For this year, Mohammad Shami can be a huge asset to them. He finished this World Cup edition as the highest wicketkeeper.
