Wasim Jaffer Thinks Fit And In Form Dhoni Can Be An Asset

As always MS Dhoni remains in the headlines even amid the outbreak of the Covid-19. After Virender Sehwag, now Wasim Jaffer, former India cricketer shared his thoughts on MS Dhoni.

Jaffer backs Dhoni

Wasim Jaffer, the domestic legend thinks that a fit and in form Dhoni can still be an asset for his team. The batting and keeping, for both jobs it is still not easy to look beyond Dhoni. Jaffer who retired from the first-class cricket after accumulating massive runs also wants Dhoni to be utilized properly so that pressure on KL Rahul could be reduced. In that case, according to Jaffer, Rishabh Pant can be used as a batsman.

To share his elaborative thoughts on former India captain, Jaffer to his social media account. He tweeted, “If Dhoni is fit and in form I think we can’t look beyond him as he’ll be an asset behind the stumps and also lower down the order. It’ll take the pressure of keeping off Rahul and India can play Pant as a batsman too if they want a lefty.”

Dhoni’s cricket future uncertain

Dhoni who stayed away from cricket since India’s exit from the World Cup 2019, was one of the most attractive aspects of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. His fans waited for quite a long time to see him in action. But that was not only the reason of Dhoni and his fans keeping eye on the IPL 2020. Ravi Shastri, the Indian cricket team coach in last November told that for the comeback to international cricket especially ahead of the T20 World Cup this year in Australia, Dhoni could use the IPL platform well.

“It all depends on when he starts playing and how he is playing during the IPL. What are the other people doing with the wicket-keeping gloves or what is the form of those players as opposed to Dhoni’s form. The IPL becomes a massive tournament because that could be the last tournament after which more or less your 15 is decided.”

As the future of the IPL 2020 is uncertain now, Dhoni’s international comeback also is under doubt.
