“Even if we would have got 240, they could have chased it as well” says KL Rahul after LSG loses IPL2024 match against SRH

The 57th match of IPL 2024 was held at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad between Sun Risers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants. The two teams locked horns in a very entertaining, yet short match.

The match started with LSG winning the toss and their captain KL Rahul chose to bat first. This lead to LSG setting a target for the SRH. Lucknow Super Giants managed to score 165 runs in 20 overs by losing 4 wickets.

Sun Risers Hyderabad won the match by 10 wickets as their opening batsmen, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma scored 168 runs in 9.5 overs. The partnership was a perfect show of legendary cricket. This win took SRH to the third spot on the points table.

KL Rahul speaking after the match

After the match, losing captain KL Rahul addressed their fans and rest of the audience at the post-match ceremony. In his statement, Rahul emphasized how losing a match would undoubtedly raise questions on all of the decisions you had taken.

“Am lost for words. We have watched that kind of batting on tv. But this is unreal batting. Everything seemed to find the middle of the bat. Kudos to their skills. They have worked hard on their six hitting skills. They didn’t give us a chance to know what the pitch played in the second innings. Was hard to stop them as they teed off from ball one. Once you are on the losing side, there are question marks on the decisions taken.” Said Rahul.

Praising the opponents team, Rahul added how scoring 240 runs would also result in the same outcome as the SRH batsmen were in very good form today.

“We were 40-50 runs short. When we lost wickets in the powerplay, we couldn’t get any momentum. Ayush and Nicky batted well to get us to 166. But even if we would have got 240, they could have chased it as well.” Rahul added.

LSG stands on sixth spot at points table

With this match, SRH climbs up on the points table to secure the 3rd spot, while LSG is left behind at number 6.

Additionally, LSG holds 12 points, the same as CSK and DC but losing their last 2 fixtures has resulted into them being at the low rank.

LSG is set to face off against DC On 14 May, 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi
