England Appoint New Captain for the ODI Series Against Ireland 

England’s upcoming three-match ODI series against Ireland, scheduled to commence on September 20, will see Zak Crawley take the helm as captain. Ben Duckett, a fellow Test opener, has been appointed as Crawley’s deputy for the series.

Crawley’s Return to ODI Cricket

Zak Crawley is making a return to ODI cricket after a hiatus of more than two years. The 25-year-old last featured in the format in 2021 but has since become a regular fixture in Test cricket. Crawley has particularly excelled under the leadership of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, making his appointment as captain a notable development.

The ODI squad boasts the inclusion of three uncapped players who are eager to make their mark on the international stage. Among them is batter Sam Hain, who earned his call-up through exceptional performances in the Vitality Blast and The Hundred.
