The 11th match of WPL 2024 witnessed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) facing UP Warriorz (UPW) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 4, 2024. UPW captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Opening for RCB, Smriti Mandhana and S Meghana (28) built a strong foundation with a 51-run partnership in just 5.3 overs. Mandhana continued her impressive form, scoring 80 off 50 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes. Richa Ghosh added to the onslaught with a quickfire 21* off 10 balls.
However, the highlight of RCB’s innings was Ellyse Perry, who smashed 58 runs off just 37 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes, propelling RCB to a total of 198/3 in 20 overs. UPW’s Anjali Sarvani, Deepti Sharma, and Sophie Ecclestone each claimed a wicket.
A moment that grabbed everyone’s attention was Perry’s powerful six that caused damage to a display car. In the 19th over bowled by Deepti Sharma, Perry stepped out and lofted the ball over mid-wicket for a massive six. The ball struck the back window of an electric vehicle on display, shattering the glass completely. Even Perry was left astonished, putting her hand on her head in shock.
