Australian legend Mike Hussey believes that Indian national cricket team will not suffer any problem post Shikhar Dhawan’s ouster from World Cup 2019. He thinks that India has enough talent to showcase their best.
Shikhar Dhawan Ruled Out
Shikhar Dhawan, the opening batsman of the Indian national cricket team has been ruled out the World Cup following a thumb injury. He sustained the same during the match against Australia and was kept under observation for a few days. The intention of Indian team management was to check the development and then take the final call as he is one of the pillars of India’s batting order. Yesterday it was made official that Dhawan is not in position play further and will fly to India for further treatment. Rishabh Pant was already called in England as a cover for Dhawan. Now he is the official replacement for Shikhar Dhawan in the team.

Experts and fans believe that this is a huge blow for the Indian cricket team. Virat Kohli’s team although began their journey quite late, have been unstoppable since the beginning. The Australia match saw Indian team clinching a thumping win over the Aussies and Dhawan was one of the main contributors. He scored 117 runs to give his team a solid base. Moreover, Dhawan’s ICC events records can any day scare the opponents. KL Rahul, although delivered well as an opener in the match against Pakistan, Vijay Shankar failed to deliver at the number 4 spot. So overall this situation can be tricky for India.
Dhawan’s loss won’t derail India’s World Cup campaign
But Mike Hussey believes otherwise. He mentioned this as a ‘big loss’ but said that it would not impact India. In a chat with ESPNcricinfo, he said “I still think they have got enough talent in their squad to feel that they can go all the way in this tournament,” he added. He is factually correct as the Indian national cricket team have enough potential reserve bench but execution will be the key.
