De Kock Creates History by Becoming the Third South African Batter to Score a World Cup Century Against Australia

The World Cup 2023 has been showing its flavor since the start. All the matches are a thrilling show. This day, Australia is facing South Africa at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. South African batters have dominated Australian bowlers in the first innings. South African batter Quinton de Kock is retiring from ODI cricket right after the World Cup 2023. His strike rate was 102.83. He was just unstoppable. His shots become threats to Australia. Finally in the 34th over, de Kock was bowled by Glenn Maxwell. He is the only third South African batter to score a century against Australia in World Cup history.

Faf du Plessis’s hundred against Australia:

Faf scored a century against Australia in the 2019 World Cup. South Africa faced Australia in the 45th match of the tournament. South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first. Markram and de Kock got out quickly in that match. Du Plessis scored a century in 94 balls. He smashed 7 boundaries and  2 over-boundaries. His strike rate was 106.38. South Africa scored 325/6 in 50 overs. While chasing, Australia got all out in 315 runs. South Africa won the match by 10 runs.

Herschelle Gibbs’s century against Australia:

The legendary South African legend, Herschelle Gibbs scored a century in the 1999 World Cup. Australia was locking horns with South Africa in that match. Gibbs scored 101 in 134 balls. It was a great knock. He smashed 10 boundaries and 1 over-boundary. His strike rate was 75.37. South Africa scored 271/7. Unfortunately, Australia won the match by 5 wickets. 

It is the last World Cup of Quinton de Kock. He is determined to finish the tournament on high. South Africa never appeared in any World Cup final before. In this World Cup, they are in very good form. They have a big chance to break that unwanted record in this World Cup.
