Cummins Calls SRH vs MI Encounter “Insane” as They Notch Record-Breaking Total

Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins aptly described Wednesday’s clash against Mumbai Indians as “insane” following a record-breaking encounter in the IPL. The match witnessed a flurry of sixes and an unprecedented total from the SRH batting line-up, leaving both teams and fans stunned.

Record-Shattering Batting Display

Electing to bat first on a belter of a wicket, SRH batsmen unleashed carnage. They amassed a colossal 277/3, the highest total ever recorded in the IPL. This mammoth score was built on the foundation of aggressive batting throughout the innings. 

While acknowledging the quality of the pitch, Cummins highlighted the importance of taking the initiative:  “You never play for 270, but we wanted to be positive and be aggressive, take the game on. It was a good wicket, so we have to suck it up knowing we would go for a few boundaries.”

Thrilling Finish Despite Bowling Challenges

Despite the bowlers facing a challenging task with a flat wicket offering little assistance, Cummins praised the resolve of his bowling attack, who managed to restrict Mumbai Indians to 246/5. 

He stated, “The ball was really pinging around. Not until we bowled, it got a bit too close for comfort. They found a boundary whenever they needed it, but we finished it off well.”

The match wasn’t just about cricketing milestones. The electrifying atmosphere at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium added another dimension to the spectacle.  Cummins remarked, “What’s important is to have clear plans with the ball. There was an amazing atmosphere in the ground, enjoyed playing here, was incredibly loud.”
