Cricket Australia Probes Glenn Maxwell’s Hospitalization in Alcohol-Related Incident

Recently, Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been highlighted for an uncanny moment outside of cricket. The cricket great was hospitalized for an alcohol-related issue. After that incident, a lot of buzz was created over this matter. However, as per the reports, Cricket Australia is all set to investigate that matter. 

The Incident:

Maxwell was seen in Adelaide and later reportedly visited a pub where ex-Australia pacer Brett Lee was performing with his band, Six and Out. Following this, the 35-year-old was said to have been taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. However, reports clarify that his stay at the hospital was brief, and he didn’t spend the night there. The details surrounding Maxwell’s visit remain unclear, adding a layer of mystery to the situation. 

Glenn Maxwell was busy with his Big Bash League duties. But his BBL franchise Melbourne Stars made their exit from their tournament quite early. After the franchise fails to showcase its desired performance. After that happened, he stepped down from the captaincy. He also has been rested for the ODI series against West Indies. 

Investigation of Cricket Australia:

Cricket Australia is looking into an “incident” involving Glenn Maxwell in Adelaide. Reportedly, on the night of January 19, Maxwell fell and lost consciousness, requiring an ambulance to take him to the hospital. Although not part of the recent ODI squad against the West Indies, Maxwell was said to have attended a concert by Six & Out, a band featuring former Australian pacer Brett Lee and others. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, adding a layer of concern for fans and cricket enthusiasts. 

Cricket Australia released an official statement on this matter. He said, “Cricket Australia is aware of an incident involving Glenn Maxwell in Adelaide at the weekend and is seeking further information.” 

The Aussie all-rounder is set to miss the ODI series against Australia. To clarify this situation, Cricket Australia said, “It is not related to him being replaced in the ODI squad, a decision that was made following the BBL and based on his individual management plan. Maxwell is expected to return for the T20 series.”
