Chris Gayle to Play for West Indies Again?

Chris Gayle, the West Indies’ flamboyant batsman, has yet to retire from the game. Chris Gayle, the batting master of the shortest format, played his final T20I match in the T20 World Cup 2021, where the Men in Maroon had a disappointing tournament.

West Indies are competing in World Cup Qualifiers 2023 after failing to earn direct qualification for the flagship tournament, and they recently lost league matches against Zimbabwe and the Netherlands.

The West Indies will have to pull their socks up as there will be many upsets at the Super 6 round. West Indies’ intent is inadequate, as evidenced by their inability to defend 375 runs against the Netherlands.

If the West Indies are to qualify for the championship, they must bring their “A” game. After two setbacks, the management should not make wholesale changes to the lineup because the Super 6 stage will be a whole different ball game.

Chris Gayle was spotted speaking with PTI and was disappointed with West Indies’ performance in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023 and stated that the Super 6 Stage will be difficult.

“It is upsetting. I have been a part of Qualifiers before. Sad to be in such a situation. Things have not gone our way going into the Super Six. It’s going to be tough. I will be very disappointed not seeing the West Indies in the World Cup here in India,” said Chris Gayle.

Chris Gayle talks about his retirement plans

Gayle also talked about his retirement plans. He also was upset about the fact that he did not receive a proper farewell game.

“I don’t think there will be any international cricket from my point of view. After the World Cup in 2021, I was supposed to have a farewell game, it did not happen. We have a new president in the place, so I don’t see it happening. But I have not made an announcement as yet. I am still active but won’t be playing so happen,” he added.
