“But sometimes the technology brings some decisions” Pakistan Coach Unleashes Fury Over Controversial Wicket

This year, two ‘Boxing Day’ Tests were scheduled to happen. On one hand, India and South Africa were locking horns. On another side, Australia and Pakistan locked horns. After losing the first Test, Pakistan faced a defeat in the second Test too. After losing the second Test match, a controversy happened regarding the DRS. Pakistan Coach Mohammad Hafeez talked about this matter.

The Controversial Dismissal:

After facing defeat in the first Test match, they faced defeat in the second match too. After winning the toss, decided to bowl first. While batting in the first innings, Australia batted exceptionally well. They got all out in 318 runs. In the first innings, Pakistan also batted well. Abdullah Shafique played an exceptional knock of 62 runs in a crucial moment. They got all out in 264 runs.

The controversial moment happened in the second innings of Pakistan. Mohammad Rizwan’s score was 35 and the team was standing on 219-5. The team needed to score 98 runs to win the match. Pat Cummins was bowling the over. Australia appealed for a dismissal but the umpire gave it not out.

But Australia took the DRS. When the moment is visualized on the big screen, Australia celebrates its appeal. The third umpire reviewed the thing multiple times. He overturned the on-field decision.

Mohammad Hafeez’s View:

Pakistan coach Mohammad Hafeez addressed it as the turning point of the match. He doubted the decision. He said, “Technology, I’m in favor of it if it’s giving you the benefit, but if it’s bringing some doubt and bringing some curse into the game it should not be acceptable by anyone.”

He expressed his thoughts on that. He said, “We play this beautiful game of cricket on the basics of the game, but sometimes the technology brings some decisions which obviously as a human we don’t understand. The ball hitting into the stumps (on DRS) is always out. Why is there an umpire’s call? I’ve never understood that.”

Later he added, “I think there are a lot of areas that need to be addressed for the betterment of cricket in general where technology is taking away from the instinct of the game.”

Lastly, he said, “We play this game for the fans but the fans will never understand why this technology is inconsistent and the result of the game comes up differently. This technology is basically putting a curse on this beautiful game of cricket and we need to address it.”
