A report on The Independent suggests that Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the IPL 2021. Stokes is suspected to have a broken hand which has forced him to leave the league.
Ben Stokes reportedly out of IPL 2021
England all-rounder Ben Stokes is reportedly out of IPL 2021. The Rajasthan Royals superstar sustained an injury during the match against Punjab Kings on Monday. This happened when he attempted to take a catch in order to dismiss the deadly Chris Gayle. Stokes dropped a chance earlier and therefore was determined to pouch this one. He ran in from long on and dived forward and immediately felt pain in his left hand. He was visibly not okay and in discomfort. However, he continued to be on the field, did not bowl, and was gone for a 3-ball duck during the batting.
Stokes will be having an X-Ray on Thursday to find out the details of the damage. The report has mentioned that the England Cricket Board are in talks with the franchise regarding the injury. Stokes will be out of India in a week. Stokes, who could not play a major part of IPL 2020 following his father’s illness was expected to have a blast this time after his fine showings against India during England’s visit.
“Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Ben Stokes injured a finger on his left hand while fielding during the team’s match against Punjab Kings on 12 April 2021 in Mumbai. Subsequent investigations revealed that he sustained a broken finger, which will, unfortunately, rule him out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2021 season”, a release from Rajasthan Royals informed.
