The madness of T20 cricket is coming back. The second edition of the SA20 league will commence on January 10th. All the franchises are ready to lock horns against each other. Fans are excited for the second edition of the T20 tournament. Before starting the season, Pretoria Captial received bad news. Their star pacer Anrich Nortije has been ruled out for this edition of SA20. He has not recovered fully yet.
Nortije’s Injury and Official Announcement:
The SA20 league’s second edition is on the way. Before that, Pretoria Capitals has a setback. Their Star Pacer Anrich Nortije has been ruled out for the upcoming season. He was injured and has not played cricket since September 2023. He also missed the World Cup and even stayed out of the team in the series against India. Now, he is going to miss the Sa20 too.
Pretoria Capitals released an official announcement on the pacer’s unavailability in the upcoming tournament. Their social media handle said, “ Capitals seamer Anrich Nortje will miss out on Season 2 of the #SA20, as he continues his recovery from an injury. The Pretoria family wishes him a speedy recovery.”
The Replacement of the Pacer:
As Anrich Nortije will not be a part of the tournament, the franchise had to go for a replacement. To fill his absence, Pretoria Capitals named Hardus Viljoen will be a part of the team. The player was a part of the Durban’s Super Giants in the last year. Pretoria Capitals will be locking horns against Paarl Royals in the first match of the SA20’s second edition. The match is scheduled to happen on January 12.
While announcing the replacement, Pretoria Capitals announced it officially. They said, “ Hardus Viljoen is a Boytjie! The experienced seamer joins the Pretoria Capitals squad as Anrich Nortje’s replacement for #SA20 Season 2.”
