After the overwhelming success of the biopics of MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, another Indian cricketer’s life will be portrayed on the silver screen. Indian women’s team’s leading all-rounder Jhulan Goswami will be the first women cricketer whose biopic will hit the theaters soon.

The movie is tentatively titled as ‘Chakdaha Express’ and it will showcase the inspiring journey of the fast bowler that goes back to her hometown in Nadia district. It will portray all the odds that she had to overcome since her childhood. The biopic will be made in Hindi and will be directed by the Bengali director Susanta Das. As per Das, the scripting will begin soon and the shooting will begin next year in the month of April.

Shooting will be held from Chakdaha to Lord’s,” said the director Das to PTI at Fanattic Sports Museum in New Town on Tuesday. He also revealed that a few Bollywood actresses have been shortlisted to play the role of Jhulan Goswami. “I cannot tell you the names as they are yet to be signed. But we are in talks with leading Bollywood actresses,” he added.

The focus will be on her journey

Susanta Das added that the crew will cover all the places that Jhulan had played cricket in and the focus will be on her inspiring journey. “We have seen MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar’s biopics. But this will be the first biopic on women’s cricket. We will send our crew to wherever Jhulan has played. The focus will be her journey, the odds she overcame since she was 10. Hope it will inspire and motivate millions of youngsters. It’s about chasing your dream,” he concluded.

The story of Jhulan will be instrumental in inspiring thousands of young cricketers in the country. How the small town girl went on to become the leading wicket-taker in ODI cricket and how she played a pivotal role in taking the team to the World Cup final against all odds in 2017, will be a treat to watch for all the cricket lovers.
