BCCI Not In Favour Of Pink Ball Tests: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah

The Indian Cricket Board BCCI is not a fan of pink-ball Test series, affirms BCCI Secretary Jay Shah in an interview. Assuming that Indians fans are less interested in the Pink-ball series, there are no matches scheduled for day/night series in India this season neither for men nor for women. Talking to the reporters in a conference alongside the recently held auction for the WPL 2024, Jay Shah told reporters that they are looking forward to finishing the series inside two to three days rather than 4-5 days.

Jay Shah’s statement

Asserting that the Board is looking forward to ending the Pink ball series within a short period, Jay Shah remarked “We will have to increase the amount of interest in the public for the pink-ball test. If you recall, the Tests ended in two-three days. Everyone wants to watch a Test match lasting four-five days. Once they get more used to it, we will do more pink ball Tests. Last time it was done in Australia, no one has done it since then. We were in talks with England, but we will do it gradually.”

Also, assuring everyone of BCCI backing India’s Disability team, Shah stated “We will one hundred per cent support them, it is our initiative so we will support them in whatever they may need. A lot of companies do CSR to help but whatever help they need from the BCCI, they are most welcome.”

When did India play its last pink ball series?

India has played a total of four pink ball Tests, from which India won three of them. Team India last played the pink ball series against Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore which got wrapped up in just 3 days. The women’s team played its last pink ball series against Australia in Queensland in 2021.
