Bas De Leede narrates an interesting incident

Recently in a video clip uploaded by ICC on its official Instagram handle, Dutch cricketer Bas De Leede spoke about a striking and iconic moment where the former Netherlands cricketer, Bas De Leede’s father, Tim De Leede got his wicket ball signed by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. This incident took place in the 2003 World Cup when in a match between India and Netherlands, Tim de Leede took a total of 4 wickets, with one of the dismissals being Sachin Tendulkar. Tim de Leede was actually very excited to get his ball signed by him, but unfortunately due to the wicket, Sachin had to leave the field in between but luckily for Tim, the umpire was kind enough to hand him the wicket ball.

After a few years, Tim got to know that Sachin was seeing a physiotherapist in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and coincidentally that physio turned out to be a friend of Tim’s. Fortunately Tim finally met Sachin through his friend and got the wicket ball autographed by the legendary batsman. After that, the ball was kept on a special shelf in Tim’s office, stated Bas De Leede.
