Axar’s Spectacular Catch Stuns Crowd: Saha’s Big Swing Ends in Sky-High Drama

The 40th match of the IPL 2024 is turning out as a thrilling one. Delhi Capitals is locking horns with Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. After facing a massive setback in the previous match, they bounced back. After batting exceptionally well in the first innings, they are nailing in the fielding too. Axar Patel’s exceptional catch while dismissing Wriddhiman Saha caught the limelight. 

Axar Patel’s Stunning Catch:

Delhi Capitals is meeting Gujarat Titans for the second time in this tournament. After facing a heartbreaking defeat in the first face-off, Gujarat Titans are hungry to win the match. In the first innings the DC batters showcased their class. But in the second innings, they are rocking the fielding side. 

While opening the innings, GT wicketkeeper batter Wriddhiman Saha was pushing the team with his brilliance. In the 10th over of the match, Kuldeep Yadav came to bowl. Kuldeep Yadav delivers a flat one, tempting Saha to take a swing, but it’s too wide. Saha goes for it, hoping to clear the infield, but Axar springs into action, leaping sky-high to snatch it. A stunning catch seemingly out of thin air, leaving the home crowd in awe. It marks a milestone, as it’s Axar’s 100th catch in the IPL.

Axar’s Brilliance Again:

After the catch, Delhi Capitals was boosted. But soon he contributed to the team in another way. In the very next over, Axar Patel comes to bowl. Axar delivers an arm ball, tempting Azmatullah to swing big, but he mistimes it. Fraser-McGurk, stationed at deep mid-wicket, springs into action, charging forward and diving to scoop up the ball just before it hits the ground. It’s a remarkable display of athleticism and reflexes, adding another chapter to the fielding magic on display. 

While batting first, Delhi Capitals set a target of 225 runs. The chase was not an easier one and Gujarat gave a good start. After Shubman Gill got out, Wriddhiman Saha and Sai Sudharsan were batting well. But Wriddhiman  Saha was dismissed after scoring 39 balls in 25 balls. Sai Sudharsan scored 65 runs in 39 balls. In the 14th over, Gujarat Titans is 135/4.
