“Another Close One” Says PBKS Captain Sam Curran After Losing Against MI

After a lot of ups and downs in their batting innings, Punjab Kings ultimately lost their match against Mumbai Indians, which was held at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium, in punjab, the home ground for Punjab Kings.

MI got to bat first, scoring 192/7 in 20 overs. The batting for PBKS was full of quite a lot of ups and downs. With losing most of their batting order at 77/6, PBKS got a Ray of hope from the young player Ashutosh Sharma. Sharma chased 61 runs in mere 28 balls.

Mumbai Indians almost lost a chance at winning the game after Ashutosh’s performance. They started with their bowling going really strong but definitely had a hard time with youngsters like Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank singh who played really well.

“Another incredible knock from the young guy (on Ashutosh), but another close loss.” said PBKS captain, Sam Curran. Ashutosh played some helicopter pulls, swept a six from Bumrah, and definitely had MI sweating out of their brows. It was when the hosts were just 25 away from the target, that he holed out deep and the lower-order couldn’t get them over the line.

“Another close one, I think this team likes a close one” -Curran

About the very close call when they had a good chance on winning the match, Sam Curran said “Another close one, I think this team likes a close one, but unfortunately another loss.”

“It’s disheartening to lose close games, but there are a lot of positives in this team. We still have the belief in us, we believe we can turn this around, the sun will come up tomorrow and we will hopefully get on a winning run.” He said.

“They have incredible confidence” Curran, On shashank singh and Ashutosh Sharma.

After most of the batting order in PBKS had collapsed under Bumrah’s bowling, it was Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh whose partnership gave a tough battle to the MI players. Sharma played a sensational 28-ball 61, bringing his team out of the ruins.

“They have incredible confidence, you see a guy like Ashutosh having the confidence to play the sweeps and the big hits against pacers, it’s so great to watch them in action.” said the 25 year old captain.

“It’s very tough, you want to lose close games rather than getting absolutely thumped, but we’ve lost a lot of wickets at the start, the way the younger guys have taken the team so close is heartening (on Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma).” He added.

The game was one of the four last-over defeats for PBKS this season.
