A Win Is A Win: Hardik Pandya On MI’s Victory Over PBKS After A Good Match.

Today’s win came as a massive breath of relief for MI after almost losing the plot due to a late, yet stunning assault led by Ashutosh Sharma. MI batted first, setting a chase of 192 runs in 20 overs. The win gave two very crucial points to MI that will lift the team up in the points table.

After MI’s bowling proving to be a hit, securing 6 wickets with only 77 runs for PBKS, the match took quite a turn in the events. Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank singh almost pulled off a heist by scoring 61 runs in 28 balls.

“This was a close game. Much closer than what we thought it would go.” Said Jasprit Bumrah, who was given POTM title.

“Knew IPL has a tendency to produce these games.” -Pandya

While addressing the end of match programme, MI Captain Hardik Pandya stated, “(It was a) Very good game of cricket. Everyone’s nerves got tested. We did speak about before the game that the character will be checked in this game. Naturally you think you’re ahead in the game. But we knew IPL has a tendency to produce these games.”

Speaking about the team’s mentality while playing the game, Pandya added “We did speak in the timeout that it doesn’t matter how good we look. We’ll keep scrapping in this game. We were quite soft in certain overs. Nevertheless, a win is a win.”

Pandya “chuffed” for Ashutosh’s future

While Bumrah’s bowling had no competition, it was the young player Ashutosh Sharma who’s performance in today’s game seemed to have caught everyone’s eye. The Player was not just praised by the PBKS Captain Sam Curran, but also his opponent team’s captain.

Speaking about Sharma’s innings, Pandya was quoted saying “Unbelievable – coming in and playing like that (Ashutosh’s knock). Almost every ball hitting the middle. Happy for him and chuffed for his future.”
