The final game of the 2023 World Cup finals is underway between Australia and India at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Having won the toss, Australia chose to field first asking India to bat. Like always, opener and skipper Rohit Sharma gave a flying start to the game, but unfortunately he stood dismissed for 47 runs by Glenn Maxwell. Before that, Shubman Gill’s wicket was picked by Mitchell Starc at just 4 runs. It is yet to see how many runs will India post in order to register a target for the Aussies.
A fan approaches Virat Kohli on the field!
While a big knockout match like that of a World Cup final can be always paired up with great fandom incidents on and off the field. With Virat Kohli boasting millions of fans, no wonder more and half of the stadium’s crowd will be cheering for their King Kohli today.
Today in one of the rare incidents, a bizarre fan moment could be witnessed at the 14th over of the first innings when Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were at the pitch exchanging runs. A fan breached the match field, by managing to miss the glance of security staff. He approached Virat Kohli and hugged him which was actually not liked by a lot of people, owing to security reasons and the fact that such disturbance diverts the attention of the players.
A Palestine supporter?
The final game was interrupted by this fan who managed to make his way to the field giving the security a cordon to miss. Interestingly, the fan could be seen wearing a t-shirt, on which it was written “Stop bombing Palestine.” He was also carrying a Palestinian flag with himself, with the fan having a motive to carry a message at the international stage following the Israel-Hamas War. Soon, after breaching the field, he was arrested by the security for these reasons.
