Zimbabwe Gears Up for Exciting 5-Match T20 Series Against India in July

In 2024, Team India’s cricket schedule is busy. In recent times, Team India has been locking horns with England in a five-match Test series. After that, IPL 2024 and the T20 World Cup are scheduled to happen. After the T20 World Cup, Team India will be touring Zimbabwe to play a five-match T20 series. The schedule of this series has been revealed.

India Tour of Zimbabwe Schedule:

In 2024, the T20 World Cup is the biggest cricket competition to happen. The tournament will start at the beginning of June and the final will take place at the end of the month. Teams across the globe will participate in this tournament. But after that, India will tour Zimbabwe for a five-match T20 series. On January 6, the schedule of the tour has been revealed.

Zimbabwe is all set to host a five-match T20 series against India on their home soil. The first match of the series will be played on July 6 and the last match is scheduled to play on July 14. The second Test match will be played on July 7, the third one is scheduled on July 10 and the fourth one will be played on July 13. All the matches will be played in Harare.

Jay Shah’s Words:

India has competed in seven matches in Zimbabwe, securing victories in five, leading to two series wins in T20Is. Notably, this marks India’s inaugural participation in a 5-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. The ongoing series is India’s fourth visit to Zimbabwe for a T20I series, following their engagements in 2010, 2015, and 2016.

Interestingly, India has never hosted a bilateral T20I series against Zimbabwe but has consistently visited the African nation in previous years. The current tour adds a new dimension to India’s cricketing history, as they aim to continue their success on Zimbabwean soil.

After the schedule was confirmed, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah opened up about this tour. He said, “The BCCI has always played a pioneering role in contributing to the global cricketing community. We understand that it is a period of rebuilding for Zimbabwe, and Zimbabwe Cricket needs our support at this juncture.”

Later he added, “Our steadfast commitment to touring and supporting fellow member boards aligns with our principle of bringing about a positive transformation within the cricketing landscape. The BCCI will do its best to make bilateral cricket stronger and commercially more viable.”
