After facing a setback, Team India is facing England in the second Test match in Vizag. They are sweating out hard to register the first win in this five-match Test series. While batting first, Team India tried hard to set a big score. But young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal caught all the limelight by scoring an exceptional double ton against England. After the youngster achieved this feat, the people of his hometown celebrate his milestone.
Yashasvi’s Double Ton:
The 22-year-old player displayed impressive confidence, leading India strongly on Day 1 with an unbeaten score of 179 runs from 257 deliveries. His remarkable performance guided India to a commanding position at 336 for six, with no other batter reaching a half-century.
On Day 2, Jaiswal confidently rotated the strike against Shoaib Bashir from the beginning.
However, he faced challenges against pacer James Anderson, getting beaten on the outside edge multiple times. Despite the pressure, Jaiswal remained composed, resisting his aggressive instincts and opting to patiently handle Anderson’s deliveries.
Jaiswal reached the milestone on the second ball of the 102nd over. He sent a full toss from Shoaib Bashir to the square leg boundary for a four, crossing the 200-run mark.
Right from the start of the 102nd over, Jaiswal signaled his intention to achieve the milestone quickly.
Bashir bowled a quicker delivery on Jaiswal’s pads, and he hit it for a maximum over the square leg boundary, reaching 197. The following delivery from Bashir was a perfect opportunity for Jaiswal, and he didn’t miss it, capitalizing on the bowler’s mistake. Jaiswal now stands as the third-youngest Indian in Test cricket history to achieve a double century, following Vinod Kambli and Sunil Gavaskar.
Celebration at Yashasvi’s Hometown:
This was a spectacular innings from the youngster. He walked away after scoring 209 runs in 290 balls with 19 boundaries and 7 over-boundaries. As soon as he reached the milestone, Jaiswal joyfully discarded his bat and helmet as the ball crossed the boundary, celebrating his inaugural Test double-century with great enthusiasm. All the members of Team India’s dugout were celebrating this milestone with the batter.
The celebration even reached Jaiswal’s hometown. After the youngster reached the milestone, the people of his hometown started celebrating this exceptional record. People were bursting crackers, playing drums and they were overjoyed by the performance of the youngster. That video has gone viral.
