WTC Final 2023: Virat Kohli grinds out hard in an intense batting session ahead of the big clash

With the World Test Championship Final between India and Australia at the Oval just a few hours away, the Asian team has accelerated its preparations. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli was spotted in a hard training session, honing his batting technique ahead of the top battle.

Team India will attempt to break their ICC trophy drought when they face Pat Cummins‘ Australia in the World T20 final at the Oval on June 7. The summit fight is likely to feature some of the best red-ball cricketers in the world, with all eyes on former Indian captain Virat Kohli.

Kohli sweats it out

While the Australians are considered the favourites due to their superior fast-bowling arsenal, India has an ace up their sleeve in the form of batting great Virat Kohli. A few hours before the important match, the 34-year-old hitter was spotted sweating it out in the nets against his countrymen. While facing speedsters Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Shardul Thakur, Kohli exhibited a variety of shots. He also sharpened his batting against spin by sparring in the nets with left-arm spinner Axar Patel.

Since last year’s Asia Cup, the middle-order mainstay has found his batting form, and he comes into the match fresh off a prolific run in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In his final innings in the longest version of the game, the batting great ended his Test century drought with a brilliant 186 against India’s prospective opponents Australia in Ahmedabad. Runs from Kohli’s bat will be critical for the Asian powerhouse, who were defeated in the final by New Zealand last time around.
