WPL 2023 Points Table: Giants win makes interesting changes in the points table

Gujarat Giants beat the Delhi Capitals by 11 runs in today’s match at the Brabourne Stadium. With this win, the Giants move up to fourth place in the points table with RCB women going to the last position once again. The race for the playoffs is getting interesting with unexpected match results in the last few matches.

With Mumbai Indians (MI) already in the playoffs, there are only two spaces left to be filled, and Delhi Capitals (DC) appear to be in a position to claim the second spot after four wins. Moreover, RCB needs a few other outcomes to go their way in addition to winning their final two games against the Gujarat Giants and the Mumbai Indians to have a chance to qualify in the third slot.

Mumbai and Delhi both need to maintain a winning streak over their respective opponents, the Gujarat Giants and the UP Warriorz, respectively. Furthermore, they would want the Giants to triumph over the UP Warriorz to ensure that no other team (apart from the top two) accumulates more than six points. All of these possibilities, though, depend on them winning their final two games.

However, Royal Challengers Bangalore has proven that it is capable, but it needs players to step up when it counts to help them out of difficulties since there is still a chance and RCB would like to take advantage of what is left. Since they won the game with two overs left, they had already moved up from fifth place for the first time. The RCB will be dangerous for opposing teams now that they have a victory under their belt.

Moreover, in today’s match, the Gujarat Giants batted first and put 147 runs on the board. Wolvaardt and Ashleigh Gardner scored 57 and 51 respectively with a crucial contribution of 31 from Harleen Deol.

Meanwhile, while chasing the target Meg Lanning, Alice Capsey, and Marizanne Kapp all got starts but could not convert them into match-winning knocks. Kim Garth, Tanuja Kanwar, and Ashleigh Gardner all chipped in with two wickets each. The Capitals were eventually bowled out for 136 in 18.4 overs.
