Will Eoin Morgan and Sam Billings play in the second ODI?

England National cricket team captain Eoin Morgan and Sam Billings may not be able to play the second One Day International against India on Friday. At the post-match interaction, Morgan however spoke about a 48-hour period to observe the development.

What’s the story?

World Champions England faced a defeat in the first ODI against India yesterday. After having a poor run in the Test and T20I series, the visitors are aiming to end the tour on a happy note. But they faced a blow in terms of a 66-run loss in the series opener. Moreover, the captain and Billings suffered from an injury, things seem more difficult for the side. Morgan split the webbing between his right thumb and index finger that required four stitches. On the other hand, Billings injured his collarbone in order to stop a boundary with a dangerous dive.

In all likelihood, these two will not feature in the next match against India. But Eoin Morgan was hopeful while saying, “We’re going to wait 48 for hours and see how it is…give as much time as needed to hopefully be available for Friday.”

David Lloyd called Virat Kohli’s Altercation with Umpires as Disrespectful

Can’t give 100 percent

Sam Billings had earlier missed the World Cup campaign due to dislocated left shoulder. Yesterday Billings did not help in the run chase with his hard-earned 18 runs. Morgan scored 22 while chasing down India’s 318. Morgan informed, “I haven’t spoken with Sam about his batting so I don’t know in his instance… In mine, it’s never going to be at 100 percent but it’s not that I can’t hold a bat.”

Later Morgan gave a hint of debuting few players when he said the management would give the majority of the English player’s opportunity to get featured in the series. This clearly means chances being opened for Matt Parkinson, Reece Topley, and uncapped Liam Livingstone. “ODI cricket has been the vehicle to grow our squad and try and improve beyond our best XI on the field so there will be opportunities for guys coming in,” Morgan said.
