West Indies Batter Falter Including Bravo and Russell

The defending champions were thrashed by England in their T20 World Cup 2021 opening game. West Indies could post mere 55 runs and England went on to seal the win six wickets with 70 balls remaining. England, the runners-up of the T20 World Cup 2021 won their first match against T20 World Cup in the history of the tournament.

West Indies lost the toss and were asked to bat first by Eoin Morgan. They were expected to have a tough day in the middle, but the surrender was unimaginable. Well, almost. Despite their poor numbers recently, West Indies were expected to show some resistance considering their approach to the format and also, their unpredictable nature. England bowlers were brilliant with ball. Led by Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali, they did not spare a chance to the Windies batters and the star-studded West Indies line-up famous for big hits fell like a house or cards.

Thanks to the West Indies T20 league, the cricketers in the country have improved over time in the shortest format of the game. But it has been quite a while since West Indies have had a overhaul of the structure. However, West Indies cricketers who take part in the T20 league across the globe including the Indian Premier League are always expected to have a good show in the middle. While the Windies side missed Sunil Narine today, the dismissals of Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo were completely heartbroken for the fans.

The poor shot selection was a major reason behind West Indies collapse. And Dwayne Bravo’s dismissal was one such example. On the other hand, Russell was gone for a duck after being clean bowled by Adil Rashid. They West Indies batters looked totally clueless, failed to tackle the English bowlers, went for random hits, and gave away wickets.
