“We will win it this year.” AB De Villiers Confident RCB Will Win IPL 2024

The IPL is commencing tomorrow. After a year-long wait, the T20 madness is coming back to India. In the inaugural match, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore are set to lock horns. After 16 years, Royal Challengers Bangalore is still hunting for their desired trophy. Before stepping into the season, AB de Villiers made a big comment on RCB’s Trophy win.

AB de Villiers’ Big Remarks:

Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers expresses confidence in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) prospects for clinching their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy this season. Under the leadership of fellow South African Faf du Plessis, RCB commences their IPL 2024 campaign with an away match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday. Despite making it to the final three times in the past 16 seasons, RCB has yet to secure a championship title, facing defeat on all three occasions.

The much-anticipated 17th edition of the Indian Premier League kicks off this Friday (March 22) with a high-octane clash between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai. As cricket enthusiasts gear up for the thrilling season ahead, de Villiers’ optimism and RCB’s determination reflect the anticipation surrounding their pursuit of IPL glory, igniting excitement among fans worldwide.

AB de Villiers said, “I really do believe we can win it. We will win it this year. Look, you’ve got to be patient. Sport is a funny thing. Cricket is not predictable, otherwise, it would have been boring.”

Later he added, “The performances the players put in really make them household names. And some of the foreigners coming over here get to understand a bit more about the Indian culture and also become household names over here. So it’s truly remarkable. It’s a great opportunity for all players, and not only players but administrators and everyone, to get involved. And I think the cricket fans have really enjoyed it over the years.”

On His New Role:

De Villiers, who retired from international cricket in 2018 and the IPL in 2021, will join JioCinema’s commentary team for IPL 2024, expressing excitement for an enjoyable commentary experience. On this matter, he said, “Well, over there at Jio Cinema, we’ve got a fantastic team. So I really feel at home. It’s not an individual sport, which helps a lot. It’s nice to have teammates around you, and we have a lot of fun. That’s also part of our strength over there. We are still cricket players. I still feel like I just played the other day. So that’s the way we commentate as well. We really give the fans and the audience a bit of an insight into what it feels like to go through those moments, the pressure moments, what it feels like in the changing room, what it feels like to lose and also to win. And I think that’s what makes it really.”
