On the 8th match of the tournament, Team India and Ireland locked horns. While bowling in the first innings, the Indian bowlers just took away the game from the opponent. After struggling with the ball in the IPL, Hardik Pandya showcased his skill. He secured three wickets in 27 balls. Jasprit Bumrah was outstanding. He conceded only 6 runs and secured 2 wickets. Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets in 35 runs. They restricted Ireland to only 96 runs.

After the 8-wicket defeat against India, Ireland’s coach Heinrich Malan opened up. He said, “I guess if you look at the way they bowled up front, it was obviously pretty challenging. We had to change our game plan a couple of times and unfortunately, it just didn’t go the way we wanted it to work out today.”

Sharping the Skills and Preparation:

In the last game, Ireland struggled throughout the game. They were all out in just 96 runs. In front of India’s bowling excellence. They struggled to create an impactful partnership. They couldn’t execute their plan in the right way. They also struggled while bowling. Only Mark Adair and Benjamin White got one wicket each. The other bowlers remained wicketless.

Malan emphasized the need for the Ireland team to improve their execution and skills to secure victories in the ongoing competition. He said, “We tried to do as much homework as we could, even though we weren’t at the ground training or playing on the surface. We spoke to the groundsman, obviously, the scores were totally different in that warm-up game that was played on that surface. So, we weren’t necessarily expecting it to behave like it did, but again, we’ve got to be better with our execution of our skills and that’s obviously something we’ll reflect on.”

Malan also said, “I guess when you look at T20 cricket, you want to see runs and boundaries, isn’t it? So, you can make your own conclusion whether it’s a 96 wicket. At the end of the day, you’ve got to try and do things well, whichever way you do them, whether it’s bat or ball first. We’ll obviously reassess the way we go about our business over the next 24 hours with a quick turnaround and look to be a little bit better on Friday.”
