India’s batsman Ambati Rayudu was seen manhandling a senior citizen in a video that has been making the rounds on the internet. The incident happened while the right-hander was driving his car one morning. He was seen swearing the citizen and then went on to hold his collar and pushed him.
Rayudu has been receiving a lot of criticism after the incident. Many have bashed him for his inappropriate behavior. He is aggressive by nature but the aggression needs to be reserved for the right place. A sportsperson who has represented the country at the highest level isn’t expected to get involved in such altercations in a public place.
Not the first time
This was not the first time the batsman lost his cool. In 2016, he got involved with his Mumbai Indians’ teammate Harbhajan Singh in a match against Rising Pune Supergiants in the Indian Premier League at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
Harbhajan bowled a shortish delivery to which the batsman Saurabh Tiwary who pulled the ball towards deep mid-wicket. Ambati Rayudu tried stopping the ball with a full-length dive to his right but the ball sneaked past the boundary.
The off-spinner wasn’t impressed and showed his anger to the fielder with some swear words. Rayudu didn’t hold back and gestured Bhajji that he tried his best and that the frustration wasn’t justified.
The duo began to charge towards each other in disgust. The time taken to meet each other calmed Harbhajan down but not Rayudu. The veteran tried to calm his teammate down by putting his arms around Rayudu but he wasn’t impressed. He snubbed Bhajji and went back to his fielding position.
Those were some unfortunate scenes on a cricket field of two players of the same team getting into an altercation. However, the two made up after the match ended.
