The World Cup 2023 has been wrapped up a few times ago. After that, India played a T20 series with Australia. In that series, Senior players were on rest, young players got chances to play. Ishan Kishan was one of them. He played the first few matches and was benched after Shreyas Iyer’s comeback. Former Indian player Ajay Jadeja Lashes out at the selectors for this matter.

In modern-day cricket, Ishan Kishan is an exceptional talent. This youngster is exceptionally talented. At this young age, he has achieved so many things. He made his debut in the international cricket in 2021. After that, he showcased his talent at every opportunity. He was also selected in the World Cup 2023. But unfortunately, he just got a chance to play two matches and then warmed the benched in the whole tournament. 

After the World Cup, he was named in the T20 squad against Australia. In the first T20 international, he played a knock of 58 runs in 39 balls. He smashed 2 boundaries and 5 over-boundaries with a strike rate of 148.72. He made a valuable partnership with Suryakumar Yadav and secured India’s win. In the second T20 match, he scored another excellent half-century. He played a knock of 52 runs in 32 balls with 3 boundaries and 4 over-boundaries. That was another brilliance by him.

After those brilliant masterclasses, Ishan Kishan was dropped after Shreyas Iyer’s comeback in the last two T20 matches. Ajay Jadeja is upset on that matter. He takes a dig at the selectors. He said, “There was a series right after the World Cup. Ishan Kishan played three matches and went home. Was he really that tired after three matches that he needed rest? He didn’t even play a lot of games at the World Cup. He deserved his spot in the playing XI for the first few World Cup matches. How many Indian players have scored a double-century on a good day?”

Then he added, “He can change the game on his day. When will he get ready? Will you keep him on trial all the time? In the last two years, how many games has he played? This problem of Indian cricket is not of today, it is very old that we don’t select (players) but reject them.” 

After that, India will be going on a South Africa tour. In that tour, Team India will play a three-match T20 series, a three-match ODI series, and a test series. In that series, Ishan Kishan has been named in that squad. That will be an opportunity for him to prove himself again on the big stage.
