“Wanted To Trust Rasikh” Says DC Captain Rishabh Pant After Thrilling Win Over GT

With a smaller ground, and introduction of the impact sub rule, IPL 2024 has been constantly seeing over 400 total runs being made in every match. The season jas turned out to be a nightmare for the bowlers as they navigate through high run-chases and fully in-form batsmen.

Today’s match marked the 40th match for IPL 2024 with Delhi Capitals clashing against Gujarat Titans at their home ground. The match ended in DC’s favour as the hosts led the match with 4 runs.

DC captain Rishabh Pant proved his skill with the bat by scoring 88 runs without losing his wicket in the match. Pant was later termed as the Player Of The Match, and rightfully so.

Pant talks about Captain instincts

On choosing 24 year old Indian Player  Rasikh Salam Dar for bowling in the 19th over, Pant said “Nortje was having a tough time. T20 is a funny game, after 14-15 overs the ball was coming on nicely. So we wanted to trust Rasikh, always trust someone who is bowling well in a game. I think it is about instincts as a captain, it will come off sometimes.”

“Happy it worked today. Surely at 43/3, we wanted to just keep going and target their main spinners. If we get something, we will take it on and keep rotating the strike.” Pant added.

“I feel better, playing in the middle” -Pant

Talking about his feelings about batting in the middle order, Rishabh Pant expressed his liking towards it.

“Everyday that I’m in the middle, I feel better. Every hour on the field matters, I love being on the field. I try to give it my 100% and it takes some time sometimes. I think the first six in the match gives me the confidence in a game. The more time I spend in the centre, the better I feel.”

Well, since the match turned out well, we can’t question Pant’s decisions at all. Today was the 12th instance of three or more DC bowlers conceding 40-plus runs in an innings, five of which have come in 2024 alone. With this DC is now situated at number 6 on the points table, after GT moves one spot down.
