Virender Sehwag comes down hard at David Warner for his slow knock

Yashasvi Jaiswal, a youngster opening batter for the Rajasthan Royals, has been outstanding thus far in this IPL season. All bowlers were destroyed by the batter in his knock 60 off just 31 balls. With the help of five boundaries, Jaiswal had a terrific start to RR’s innings, scoring a mind-boggling 20 runs off Khaleel Ahmed’s first over. He was expecting a hundred, but when he tried to up the ante, he was dismissed.

David Warner has received harsh criticism from former Indian cricketers Virender Sehwag after another subpar performance during Delhi Capitals’ third straight loss in IPL 2023. Gavaskar thinks the Capitals’ skipper needs to accept responsibility for the loss, while Sehwag thinks the southpaw could take a cue from Yashasvi Jaiswal about boosting the ante.

The Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner hasn’t been at his best this season. Despite Delhi’s 57-run loss against the Rajasthan Royals on Saturday, the left-hander still had the Orange Cap after scoring a half-century in 44 balls and finishing with 65 off 55. It follows his sluggish performances of 56 and 37 in the opening two games.

Sehwag slams Warner

The experienced batter’s consumption of excess deliveries, according to the 44-year-old Virender Sehwag, left no room for power hitters like Rovman Powell and Abhishek Porel.

“I feel it is time that we tell him in English now so that Warner listens to it and feels hurt. David, if you are listening, please play well. Score 50 in 25 balls. Learn from Jaiswal, he hit in 25 balls. If you cannot do that, do not come and play in the IPL.

“It would have been better for the team if David Warner got out for 30 runs, rather than making 55-60. Players like Rovman Powell and Abhishek Porel could have come out much earlier and maybe could have done anything. No balls were left for those players, and they are big hitters in the team.”

The Capitals have now lost 3 games in a row and are now in a spot of bother with Pant, not in the side. They will have to play exceedingly well in the remaining matches of the tournament.
