Vidarbha beat Karnataka to book their place int in the Ranji Trophy semifinal

Vidarbha secured a spot in the semi-finals of the 2024 Ranji Trophy after a convincing 127-run victory over Karnataka on Day 5 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground in Nagpur. Chasing a challenging target of 371 runs, Karnataka started the final day at 103/1 but lost wickets at regular intervals. Mayank Agarwal top-scored with 70, but Vidarbha’s Aditya Sarvate and Harsh Dubey picked up crucial wickets to derail Karnataka’s chase.

Sarvate was the pick of the bowlers, claiming four wickets, while Dubey supported him well with four wickets of his own. Karnataka’s middle order collapsed, and they were eventually bowled out for 243. Vidarbha will now face Madhya Pradesh in the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy.

Earlier in the match, Vidarbha posted a competitive first-innings total of 460, with Atharva Taide scoring a century. In response, Karnataka was bowled out for 286, with Kaverappa taking four wickets. In their second innings, Vidarbha managed 196, with Kaverappa once again starring with six wickets.

The victory was a team effort for Vidarbha, with both their batsmen and bowlers performing admirably. Their comprehensive win over Karnataka highlights their strong form heading into the semi-finals of the prestigious domestic competition.
