Two World Cup moments closest to Dhoni’s heart

In a promotion event in Mumbai, Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni shared two cricket moments from his career that are closest to his heart.

Dhoni recalls bus ride

Dhoni amid a lot of things was asked about the moments from his career that he would cherish forever. Former Indian skipper revealed that the open bus ride in Mumbai after winning the 2007 T20 World Cup was wonderful. He absolutely loved the way they were received in Mumbai with smiling faces in a jam-packed Marine Drive. “There are two incidents I would like to mention over here. So after the 2007 (T20) World Cup, we came back to India and had an open bus ride and we were standing at the Marine Drive (in Mumbai). It was jam-packed all around and people had come out of their cars.”

He further added, “So, I felt good after seeing the smile on everyone’s face. Because, there could have been so many people in the crowd, who might have missed their flights, perhaps they were going for important work. The kind of reception, we got, the entire Marine Drive was full from one end to other.”

The chants Dhoni can’t forget

Another moment he picked was from the 2011 World Cup Final when the fans were chanting “Vande Mataram” before the climax. In an interaction with the News18, Dhoni explained. “And the second instance I would say the 2011 World Cup final, in that match when 15-20 runs were required, the way all the spectators started chanting Vande Mataram’ at the Wankhede Stadium.” Dhoni opined, “These are two moments, I think, it will be very difficult to replicate them. Those are the two moments that are very close to my heart.”

Although the 38-year-old was happy to share his cricket experience thus far, was not much keen to share his future plans. The media still asked him about it and Dhoni said, “January tak mat pooch.”
