“The overhead conditions were really challenging” Says Nepal Captain Rohit Paudel After Losing T20 World Cup 2024 Match Against Netherlands

The seventh match for the T20 World Cup 2024 has been concluded with a match between Netherlands and Nepal teams. Both the teams are in group D for the tournament.

The match was conducted at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, Texas and had quite a huge turnout, especially from Nepal fans.

Netherlands won the toss and opted to bowl first, resulting in Nepal scoring 106 in 19.2 overs of the first innings. Netherlands chased the score with style as they scored 109/4 in 18.4 overs, hence achieving victory. 

Rohit Paudel and the “overhead conditions”

After losing the match, Nepal captain Rohit Paudel indulged in a descriptive statement in the post match ceremony. Paudel mentioned that the overhead conditions were not aligning with the Nepal team. He also credited the Netherlands bowlers for their impressive performance in the match.

“The overhead conditions was really challenging. Credit to Netherlands bowlers also. We could’ve done better with the bat.” Paudel said

Speaking about his own performance in the match, Paudel recognised his mistakes at the field and opened up about where he could have done better.

“After getting start myself, I could’ve stretched more. I was moving laterally and using the crease to disturb the length. It was working for me. After the start, I could’ve done better.” He added.

Rohit Paudel on Nepal’s bowling

After the match, Paudel also spoke about the Nepal team’s bowling unit. He expressed his frustration over him dropping catches of the Netherlands batsmen as well.

“As a bowling unit we bowled well. In the field we could’ve done better. Result would’ve been different. Last one I dropped, it was very crucial.” Paudel said.

Rohit finished his statement by thanking the crowd who had come to support the team.

“Want to thank all of them (the crowd). Was feeling like we were playing in Nepal. If we do better as batting unit, we can do better.” He added.
