“The Dew Didn’t Come” Here’s Why Rishabh Pant Chose To Bowl First In DC vs SRH

Delhi Capitals lost the match against SunRisers Hyderabad and how. The Delhi captain Rishabh Pant had it right when he won the toss, but made a grave mistake in choosing to bat first. SRH has been making name this season as the run-machine team. The team’s last few matches have ended up with them scoring above 250 and the same happened today.

Pant explains the reason for him choosing to bowl first was the “fear of dew” alas! The dew didn’t come. The DC captain could tell their chances of winning were dwindling at the power play of the first innings when Ashutosh Singh and Travis Head scored a team hundred in merely 5 overs.

Being hopeful about the future matches, Pant said “Hopefully, we’ll come up with more thought process and a clear mindset going forward.”

“The powerplay was the difference” -Rishabh

Talking about his strategy, and what could’ve been better, Pant said  “I think the only thought process behind it was there could be dew which didn’t come (on choosing to bowl first), but we would still have had a chance had we restricted them to 220-230. The powerplay was the difference, they got (125) runs and we ended up playing catching up after that.”

“The ball stopped more in the 2nd innings, that was more than we anticipated, but when we needed to chase 260, 270, you’ll need to keep scoring. Hopefully, we’ll come up with more thought process and a clear mindset going forward. His batting has been phenomenal (on Fraser-McGurk), he’s been nice for us, that’s what we need to do as a team, be together, look at areas where we can improve going into the next game.” He added.

SRH moves to 2nd position at the points table

After winning the match against DC at Arun Jaitley Stadium by 67 whopping runs, SRH moves to the 2nd spot. Well, if it’s any team that deserves it, it’s SRH. The batting order is phenomenal, so good that the bowling unit can take a step back and still win matches. 200 seems like a low score for SRH this year.

While it’s still unknown which team will bag the trophy, Sun Risers Hyderabad is definitely one of the top contenders for it.
