Suryakumar Yadav Ready for Action, Set to Shine Against Delhi Capitals

The IPL 2024 is going on with all its glory. The competition is going well on every passing day. Teams are fighting hard to be the best. But within all of these, Mumbai Indians’ performance is seeking attention. They are at the bottom of the points table after losing all the matches. But they have received good news. Suryakumar Yadav has been declared fit for the upcoming matches. That is a big boost for the team.

Injury and Comeback:

Suryakumar, the top-ranked T20I batsman, sustained a grade II ankle tear during a series in South Africa last year. This injury led to his absence from the subsequent T20I series against Afghanistan at home. Additionally, he underwent sports hernia surgery earlier this year in Germany. Because of this, he missed initial matches for the Mumbai Indians. That impacted the team’s performance.

Mumbai Indians received positive news as Suryakumar Yadav is declared fit to play in their next IPL match against Delhi Capitals. After missing over three months due to injury, Yadav was cleared by the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The BCCI and NCA physios ensured Yadav’s readiness before approving his return to the field.

A BCCI source revealed, “He is fit now. The NCA made him play a few practice games and he looked good. He can join the Mumbai Indians team. We wanted to be sure that when Surya goes back to MI, he is 100 percent fit and ready to play games. He wasn’t feeling 100% during his first fitness Test before the IPL, so we waited to see if there was any pain while he was batting.”

A Huge Boost For MI:

In their IPL season opener against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, Mumbai Indians witnessed the return of Hardik Pandya to his former home ground. Despite a thrilling match at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Mumbai suffered a six-run defeat against the five-time champions. Their next encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad proved challenging, with Hyderabad setting a record-breaking total of 277 runs. Despite Mumbai’s efforts, disciplined bowling by Sunrisers restricted them to 246 for five at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. In their first home game, Mumbai struggled with batting as Riyan Parag’s unbeaten 54 runs led Rajasthan Royals to a comfortable victory.

Mumbai Indians find themselves at the bottom of the points table after suffering three successive defeats without securing any points. Yadav’s comeback is a significant morale booster for the struggling team, captained by Hardik Pandya. With the return of the top-ranked T20I batsman, Mumbai aims to reverse their fortunes and revitalize their campaign in IPL 2024, seeking to climb up the standings and make a strong comeback.
