Sunil Gavaskar and Krishnamachari Srikkanth take a dig at Rohit Sharma’s dipping form

Sunil Gavaskar and Krishnamachari Srikkanth, two esteemed former captains of the Indian cricket team, recently launched a sharp criticism of Rohit Sharma‘s performance. Gavaskar expressed his reservations regarding Sharma’s shot selection, while his former opening partner, Srikkanth, went so far as to suggest that the struggling skipper does not deserve a spot in the Mumbai Indian’s starting eleven.

“NO HIT SHARMA”

Sharma’s ongoing batting struggles were once again on full display as he was dismissed for a duck during Mumbai Indian’s recent six-wicket defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings. This unfortunate dismissal marked Sharma’s sixteenth duck in IPL history, setting a new record for the most ducks by any player in the tournament’s history.

Incredibly, Sharma has managed a meager total of just five runs in his last four innings. His bizarre dismissal prompted former Indian cricketer K Srikkanth, who is now a prominent member of the Star Sports Commentary panel, to brand him ‘No Hit Sharma’ during the live broadcast.

“Rohit Sharma should change his name to ‘NO HIT SHARMA’, I will not even play him in XI if I was Captain of MI.”, Srikkanth slammed Rohit Sharma while commentating.

Not a Captain’s shot

Sunil Gavaskar also expressed his disappointment over Sharma’s lackluster performance and questioned his decision-making on the field. Gavaskar was quoted as saying to Star Sports, “It just doesn’t seem as if he is in the game. I may be completely wrong, but the shot he played wasn’t a captain’s shot. A captain repairs the innings knowing that the team is in trouble, plays a decent knock, and gets the team to a good total. Two wickets gone for not too many in the power-play and you are not in form.”

These comments from Sunil Gavaskar and Krishnamachari Srikkanth underline the growing concern among cricket fans and experts about Rohit Sharma’s dip in form. The Mumbai Indians skipper will need to quickly find his groove if he hopes to lead his team to another title triumph this season.
