Dale Steyn called MS Dhoni the boss of Chennai Super Kings. When a twitter used asked him his thoughts on Dhoni’s future with CSK considering the mega auction next year, Steyn said whenever one talks of CSK, he thinks of Dhoni.
MS Dhoni has guided Chennai Super Kings to three IPL titles making them one of the most successful IPL franchises in the history of the league. IPL 2020 was the first time when the side failed to make it to the Playoffs. However, this season has started showing CSK once again in its old form. But MS Dhoni, the captain does not look in good shape with the bat. With the mega auction scheduled for next year, a lot of people Dhoni may not be retained by the franchise next year.
“Do you think MS Dhoni will retain himself next year for CSK looking at the current form he is in?” is the question that a Twitter user asked Dale Steyn, the former South African cricketer.
Steyn replied, “He is the boss of Chennai. When you think Chennai, you think MS Dhoni. And you know what? They’ve got a couple of games left and they are almost into the finals. But we haven’t seen Dhoni do anything.” He further explained what might work for Dhoni. “If he smashes the winning runs in the final, you can guarantee that he will be taking the gloves for Chennai in next year’s IPL,” Steyn said.
In IPL 2020, Dhoni scored 200 runs and that was also his worst season along with the team in the history of the league. This year has not been any great for him personally but it was his leading ability that helped CSK to be the first team to qualify to the Playoffs. However, Dhoni and Suresh Raina not clicking with the bat remains the biggest concern for CSK for the next and final stage of the league in the UAE.
